50 x Scabiosa atropurpurea seeds in plastic free packaging.
Scabiosa ‘Black Knight’, also known as sweet scabious, is an easy-to-grow plant producing deep maroon, almost black, pincushion-like flowers with white stamens from summer to early autumn. A Hardy Annual that attracts bees and butterflies, is excellent for cutting, and can grow to 0.5–1.0m tall with a 0.1–0.5m spread. It thrives in full sun and well-draining soil and can be grown from seed or transplanted.
How to grow: Indoor sowings: Jan – May sow 3mm (1/8”) deep in potting/seed compost. Protect from frost ideally at 15-18°C. Transplant individually into pots when big enough to handle before planting out 20cm (8”) apart after risk of frost has passed. Outdoor sowings: April and May sowings can be done in flowering site. Autumn sowings: keep undercover in coldframe or greenhouse, plant out after risk of frost has passed.
