Description
Canterbury Bells – Campanula calycanthema mixed
Also quaintly known as the Cup and Saucer flower, this biennial in shades of white, mauve and purple makes for a quintessential Cottage Garden addition. Perfectly at home in just about any setting, being great performers in containers, borders and, of course, the cutting flower patch.
How to grow: From September to April (for flowering the following year) with protection from frost, surface sow (do not cover) pressing the seeds onto the compost. Keep compost moist and pot on when big enough to handle before planting out after risk of frost has passed. Direct sowings can be made in a well prepared seed bed in April-July. Thin or plant out at 20-30cm apart (8-12”). Cut back after flowering. Plant height 80-100cm (approx 3ft)
