Cerinthe, also know as Honeywort and blue shrimp plant. Very easy to grow. Flowers can be cut and used in arrangements. A great flower for pollinators. A half hardy annual, it can tolerate frosts of -5C
How to grow: Sow from April to May (or September to October for flowers in the following year). Choose a position in full sun on well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, at a depth of 3mm (1/8″). Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 30cm (12″) apart. Plant height 60cm (24”). The seeds can also be sown indoors from February for later transplanting. Top tip: If using as a cut flower, dip the ends of the stems in boiling water for 30 seconds.
