250 x Amaranthus caudatus seeds
Perhaps better known as Love-Lies-Bleeding, producing long deep red tendrils of tiny flowers which make a real statement in a cut flower arrangement. The dried seed heads are much loved by garden birds. Plant height 60-120cm (2-4ft).
How to grow: Indoors in March, surface sow onto moist seed compost, do not cover with compost. Either cover lightly with vermiculite or place pot/tray in a clear polythene bag or propagator to prevent seeds from drying out. Keep at a temperature of 20 degrees C for seed to germinate reliably. Once big enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into larger pots and grow on until ready to plant out after all risk of frost has passed.
Alternatively, direct sow outside in Mid-late Spring. Thin or plant seedlings out to 30-60cm (12-24”)
