Description
This hardy, herbaceous perennial with coarse, hairy foliage produces masses of pink-purple daisy like flowers with orange cone shaped centres. It’s a late bloomer, flowering mid to late summer and is a top choice for pollinators. Perfect as a cutting flower too! It is very drought tolerant so needs little attention once it gets going.
How to grow: Best started in early Spring (Feb-April) indoors. Surface sow in a tray of firmed seed compost, firm seeds in by hand and water carefully. Cover with a fine layer of vermiculite or place tray in a propagator or plastic bag to prevent the surface from drying out. Ideal germination temperature is 18-24 C. Once established, transplant into 3” (7.5cm) pots and grow on before planting out 30cm (12”) apart, once all risk of frost has passed. Remove dead flowers to encourage further blooms. Height 100 – 150cm (40 – 60”), Spread 45 cm (18”)
