Description
This cheerful perennial bursts into bloom with masses of bright yellow daisy-like flowers each with a warm golden heart atop sturdy green stems and lush foliage. Flowering from mid-summer right through to early autumn, keeping the garden glowing long after many other plants have faded.
It is wonderfully easy to grow, tough and dependable and will shrug off wind, rain, and even a bit of drought once established. It loves a sunny spot (the more sun, the better!) and works beautifully in borders, cottage gardens, or pollinator patches. Bees and butterflies absolutely adore it.
The blooms make fantastic cut flowers, too — long-lasting, sturdy.
How to grow: Sow indoors February-May on a bed of good, moist seed compost, cover lightly with more compost and place in a propagator or polythene bag to aid germination. Germination takes about 4 weeks. Once seedlings are big enough to handle, pot on into individual pots and grow on in cooler conditions before planting out after all risk of frost has passed at a distance of 45cm (18”) apart. A sunny position is preferred. Plant height 90cm (36”).
